Carbon Roller
TheCarbon Roller is amain weapon in theSplatoon series.
Compared to the basicSplat Roller, the Carbon Roller is the lighter and more mobileroller. It has an incredibly fast flick that still splats opponents in one hit. However, its attack power and range is weaker, and it is unable to crush opponents in one hit.
Appearance
The main parts of the Carbon Roller are anink tank and a cylindrical roller frame, both of which change color to match the user's ink. Unlike the other rollers, the frame is attached to both sides of the paint roller. The frame of the roller resembles that of a bicycle, and the ink tank is connected to it by a bike's bottle holder, and the tank itself is designed to look like a sports bottle. The roller frame has red supports on either side connecting it to the ink tank. The supports curve around to make a handle at the end of the tank, looking like a handlebar from a bike, having what resembles a brake lever on the back. The ends of the paint roller are covered with black disks. The roller itself has a series of stripe indents across it, and is coated with the player's ink when their tank is not empty.
InSplatoon 3, the Carbon Roller retains its design from the previous games, but its frame now has a yellow-orange and black color scheme.
InSplatoon, the ink tank is white with a gray logo, white with a black logo inSplatoon 2, and the user's ink color and black with a different black logo inSplatoon 3. InSplatoon andSplatoon 2, there is Inkling text on one half of the black disks on the end of the roller, and arrows around the other half's circumference. InSplatoon 3, there is a different design with a white logo encased in a white dashed circle, which is encased in two arrows around the circumference of the disk, one yellow, one light blue.

The Carbon Roller returns inSplatoon 2 withAutobombs andInk Storm.
Each flick consumes 4% of theink tank capacity, allowing players to fling 25 times before needing to refill.
The Carbon Roller is much faster than almost any otherroller in the game, and is very ink-efficient, allowing players to cover large amounts of turf quickly. This is slightly impaired by the fact that it will cover a little bit less surface area than most rollers, even though it is very quick. It is very useful to cover ground quickly, but is lacking in mid-to long range combat.
It appears in twoOcto Expansion stations:

- The Carbon Roller is alightweight weapon.
- The matchmaking range is 9.5. The game's matchmaking system looks at a team's average matchmaking range value, and matches them against a team with a similar average.
- Ink consumption per second while rolling scales from 1.2% to 6% depending on the rolling speed.

Horizontal swing (while grounded)
- The ink consumption of 3.96% allows players to attack 25 times before needing to refill the ink supply.
- When attacking with a nearly depleted ink tank, the ink consumption of that attack is reduced to 1.98%. The damage of that attack is reduced to 25% of the normal amount, and the speed in which the globs of ink move is reduced to 50% of the normal amount, effectively reducing its range.
- When attacking, it takes 10 frames to lift the roller (0.17 seconds).
- When attacking while moving, the player's movement speed is set to 0.06 units per frame.
- After swinging, there is a 40 frame cooldown before the ink tank starts refilling.
- Attacks have a base damage of 100.
- For normal attacks, ink loses damage based on distance traveled. Ink starts losing damage at 4.7 units and stops losing damage at 8.7 units. The minimum damage before time-based falloff is applied is 25.
- The lethal range is 4.7 units, as this is the farthest distance where ink deals 100 damage.
- If a glob of ink is in the air for more than 24 frames after being flung, it loses damage each frame until frame 44, at which point it will deal 50% of its original damage. Thus, the minimum damage that can be dealt per glob is 12.5.
- Ink flung from the center of the roller does the greatest damage. Ink that is flung at an angle greater than 16.0 degrees to the left or right will have lower damage. This low-damage ink starts losing damage after traveling a distance of 3.2 units and stops losing damage at 7.2 units. The maximum damage is 100 and the minimum damage is 25.

- Attacks have a base damage of 120.
- For normal attacks, ink loses damage based on distance traveled. Ink starts losing damage at 4.2 units and stops losing damage at 14.2 units. The minimum damage before time-based falloff is applied is 35.
- If a glob of ink is in the air for more than 30 frames after being flung, it loses damage each frame until frame 45, at which point it will deal 50% of its original damage. Thus, the minimum damage that can be dealt per glob is 17.5.
- Damage does not change based on the angle of the ink.

Of course, lightweight leads to lightinking capability, but if you can find an opponent with anAutobomb and then sneak behind them, it'll get the job done. Rounding out this zippy little loadout is theZipcaster, which can also help you surprise and undelight your opponents. Basically, if you want to be a ninja, try out this set! |
