After graduating, he worked at a small company doing maintenance forTower Control, but could not abandon his love for music, and eventually started a band. While watching two teams fighting inTurf War, he concluded that he was on a different level from either side, and named his band after the concept of a "C-Side Squid".[5]

While in school, they formed a band called "Ornamental Fish", but it was disbanded during their freshman year. During a live performance, they slipped out the back entrance during their part and met Baker for the first time. They are prone to wanderlust, once leaving C-Side for a time to perform in a metal band.[5]
They are additionally a member ofRiot Act.
Walter
Walter is C-Side's drummer. They have a high-pitched raspy voice, contrasting with their tough appearance. They know how to play the guitar.[6] They were first known to Kiki as the janitor at their high school. They are slightly older than the other two, and are fond of the pure kind of death metal. Quotes
| “ | No band reps harder for the Splatlands than this trio. Despite having no formal musical education, they rose to the surface through raw sensibility and ambition alone. As rowdy as they might look, they deliver a tight, heavy sound that's pumping with vitality. | ” |

| “ | These three don't doubt for a second that they're the greatest band alive. They don't ask permission to cover other artists' tracks, and they claim their versions are better. In the case of Squid Squad's Now or Never!, they even claim to be the originators. | ” |

The name is also phonetically similar to "seaside". In addition, "c" is the third letter in the Latin alphabet, three being a number that is often referenced inSplatoon 3.
Baker's name could be in reference to a baked rice snack that shares the same name as his Japanese name, Beika.
