Appearance
The Black Tee is a short-sleeved black T-shirt. On the front are some largeInkling letters printed in white, and at the bottom is a tiny purple tag with theSquidForce logo in white. On the lower back is more white Inkling text, but much smaller than that on the front. InSplatoon 3, the shirt can be changed into an oversized version using the 'Adjust Gear' feature.
It is similar to theWhite Tee andBasic Tee, albeit black.

The Black Tee comes withSpecial Duration Up as the primaryability. As a 1-star item, the Black Tee comes with one additional slot for secondary abilities, which may be increased to a maximum of three slots with aSuper Sea Snail or 30,000 cash for each slot. Sinceit is made by theSquidForcegear brand, it has a higher chance of rollingDamage Up and a lower chance of rollingInk Saver (Main) to fill its secondary ability slot.

As a 0-star item, the Black Tee comes with one additional slot for secondaryabilities. The star level may be increased withSuper Sea Snails for 1 (first), 1 (second), 5 (third), 10 (fourth), or 20 (fifth) Super Sea Snails per star, or by purchasing additional copies of it from Man-o'-Wardrobe for 10,000 (first), 30,000 (second), 50,000 (third), 100,000 (fourth), or 200,000 (fifth) Cash per star. Increasing the star level to 1 or 2 stars will add a secondary ability slot per level, up to a maximum of three slots. Increasing the star level beyond 2 stars will increase the gear experience gained by a cumulative 3.333…% up to 10% additional experience at 5-star level. Sinceit is made by theSquidForcegear brand, it has a higher chance of rollingInk Resistance Up and a lower chance of rollingInk Saver (Main) to fill its secondary ability slots.

- The Black Tee is the cheapest purchasable piece ofgear withSpecial Duration Up inSplatoon.
- The logo on this and theWhite Tee loosely resembles the Japanese word for "squid" (いかika) in hiragana, like theSplatoon version of theBasic Tee. Unlike the Basic Tee, however, the logos of the Black and White Tees were not changed forSplatoon 2.
