Description
Bear with Me is a climactic track which plays during the battle against Mr. Grizz on The Spirit Lifter. The main melody is derived from that ofHappy Little Workers, another song associated with Mr. Grizz. The full song is divided into three phases like the boss battle itself, and transitions from one phase to the next by fading between them without restarting.
The first phase starts with some large orchestral hits before switching up to the main melody with a small plucky synth playing theHappy Little Workers theme. After that, an electronic drum kick starts playing at a 31:32 ratio to the main melody. This is calledpolytempics and makes it sound off-tempo and disconcerting. A snare and B melody later come in with a few other random instruments to accompany the kick, with the main melody devolving into random notes.
The second phase continues theHappy Little Workers melody with some sort of cephlopod or Mr. Grizz' voice and orchestral hits on the 2nd beat of most measures. After a while, there is a bridge with a skidding, turntable-ish instrument and a wailing trumpet-like part with a melody fromFishing Frenzy.
In the third phase, the music becomes a lot fuller and more hopeful. The orchestral hits are replaced with large trumpet chords and the drum beat is stronger.
Trivia
- When playing the track on thejukebox, instead of going through all three phases of the song and looping, only the first phase plays before looping back to after the intro of the first phase.
Etymology
The title of this song is a pun on "bear", Mr. Grizz's species, and the phrase "bear with me", used to request that someone act patiently.
