Appearance
The Beachcomber is a wide-brimmed straw hat with a visible, woven structure. It features a striped string acting as a hatband and toggle, which changes color to match the wearer's ink. The toggle has a tiny, black adjuster resembling a squid, with the string looped beneath it. The crown's front is adorned with an Inkline label, while another one with the old version is sewn to the brim's left side.
When displayed in a Locker inSplatoon 3, this gear is placed on a black mannequin head.

The Beachcomber comes withOpening Gambit as the primaryability when purchased from a shop or ordered fromMurch, which, being exclusive to the main slot ofHeadgear, prevents the wearer from also havingComeback,Last-Ditch Effort, orTenacity. When purchased fromSplatNet 3, it comes with any other primary ability normally available to Headgear. As a 2-star item, the Beachcomber comes with three additional slots for secondary abilities. The star level may be increased withSuper Sea Snails for 5 (third), 10 (fourth), or 20 (fifth) Super Sea Snails per star, or by purchasing additional copies of it from Naut Couture for 50,000 (third), 100,000 (fourth), or 200,000 (fifth) Cash per star. Increasing the star level beyond 2 stars will increase the gear experience gained by a cumulative 3.333…% up to 10% additional experience at 5-star level. Sinceit is made by theInklinegear brand, it has a higher chance of rollingSub Resistance Up and a lower chance of rollingIntensify Action to fill its secondary ability slots.
