Ammoses Shellendorf^(NA), orAmmoni Shellendorf^(EU/OC), is a minorcharacter inSplatoon. He isSheldon's grandfather, or "grandpappy," as Sheldon calls him, and the founder ofAmmo Knights.^[1]

His status and location are unknown, as he has never been seen in person in-game.

History

Ammoses Shellendorf served in theGreat Turf War as part of a division called theSquidbeak Splatoon alongsideCap'n Cuttlefish,Judd, and two unidentifiedInkling soldiers.

At some point,Booyah Base was built aroundSheldon's home andweapons shop. However, it was not him, but Ammoses Shellendorf who owned the land at the time.^[2] This suggests that Ammoses Shellendorf may still be alive, as Sheldon appears young enough that these events could have happened fairly recently.

In his later years, he worked on peaceful applications of his weapons.^[1]

In the manga

Ammoses hid a treasure atop ofMount Nantai, a weapon that resembles aSplattershot but far more powerful.

Etymology

Ammoses is derived fromammonite, a type of mollusk, and ammo, a clipping of the word ammunition. The latter definition references his career as a weapon engineer.Shellendorf is derived from shell.
