Zoology is thescience of studyinganimal life. It is part ofbiology.Animal life is classified into groups calledphyla, of which there are at leastthirty.[1]

Zoologists are scientists who study animals. They may work inlaboratories, or dofield research. The methods are many and various. At the heart, they cover thestructure,function,ecology andevolution of animals. The structure is investigated bydissection, andmicroscopic examination. The function is investigated byobservation andexperiment.Palaeontology supplies information aboutextinct animals. Zoologists may be employed byzoos,museums,universities, universities,non-profit organizations.[source?]
