Xi (uppercase/lowercaseΞ ξ) is the 14th letter of theGreek alphabet. It is used to represent the "x" sound inAncient andModern Greek. In the system ofGreek numerals, it has a value of 60. The Roman letterX and Cyrillic letterѮ came from Xi.

Inmathematics, both uppercase Ξ and lowercase ξ are used to refer to variants ofRiemann Xi function (itself a variant ofRiemann zeta function).[1] Inphysics, the uppercase Ξ is used to represent thecascade particle andxi baryon.[2]
