Inmedicine, awound is a type of physicalinjury where in theskin is torn, cut or punctured (anopen wound), or where blunt force trauma causes abruise (aclosed wound). Inpathology, it specifically means a sharp injury which damages thedermis of the skin. Amortal wound is one that leads directly to the death of the victim.[1]
