Windows CE 5.0 (codename "Macallan")[1] is the third release of theWindows CE.NET family. It was first released on July 9 2004. Windows CE 5.0 was promoted as a low-cost, small, fast-to-market,real-time operating system. It was available forx86,ARM,MIPS andSuperH based systems.

Windows CE 5.0 versions are the base forWindows Mobile6.0,6.1 and6.5.
