Virgil van Dijk (born 8 July 1991) is aDutch professionalfootballer. He plays as acentre-back forPremier League clubLiverpool and theNetherlands national team. He was born inBreda,North Brabant.

Van Dijk began his career withDutch teamGroningen. He played there between 2011 and 2013. Then he moved toScottish Premiership teamCeltic. He won two league titles and aScottish League Cup in both his seasons at Celtic. In 2015, he moved toSouthampton of the Premier League. On 1 January 2018, van Dijk joined Liverpool.[1]
