Vera Alida Bergkamp (born 1 June 1971) is a Dutch politician. She is a member ofDemocrats 66 (D66) and waspresident of the House of Representatives from April 2021 to December 2023.

Bergkamp studied human resource management at theAmsterdam University of Applied Sciences and public administration and political science at theFree University Amsterdam.[1]

She had several jobs in the field of organization and management, among other things as a human resource manager at the Social Insurance Bank. Besides, she was chairwoman ofLGBT rights organizationCOC Netherlands.[1]

From March 2010 to September 2012, she was a member of district councilAmsterdam Centre.

On 20 September 2012, she was sworn in into theHouse of Representatives. As an MP she was engaged in long-term care,COVID-19, regulation ofhemp cultivation, and family law, especially LGBT rights.

On 7 April 2021, she was elected president of the House of Representatives, defeating incumbent presidentKhadija Arib (Labour Party) and challengerMartin Bosma (Party for Freedom).[2]

Vera Bergkamp is from paternal side ofMoroccan origin and was born and is still living inAmsterdam. She is alesbian and married to a woman; together they two daughters.[3]
