Varanidae is thefamily of monitor lizards. The family is a group ofcarnivorous lizards. It includes the largest living lizard, theKomodo dragon, and thecrocodile monitor. Varanidae contains the livinggenusVaranus and someextinct groups. Their closest living relatives are theanguid andhelodermatid lizards.^[1]
