Hi, Immanuelle. Some pages you created are showing up in this category. Please check at least the ones in mainspace and remove the interlanguage link templates where we have an article here. That will clear them from this category. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk)10:13, 23 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm willing to help with text replacements if I can do the changes in some automated or semi-automated way, but I'm not sure I understand exactly what you'd need. Are you thinking you'd provide specifics things like "Change 'abc' to 'xyz'", or something like "change this invocation of{{Ill}} to a local link"?
Also, I'd be willing to make such changes in articles, but not in things like archives, discussion pages. I don't think those should be changed.
The first time the topic is mentioned (usually at the beginning of the first paragraph), it should be bolded but not linked.
Right after that, where you linked to the Japanese article, it should just be a translation of the name, not a link to the article in another language. The link to the Japanese article is in the sidebar under "In other languages". In general, there aren't supposed to be links to other-language Wikipedias in the body of an article. Uses of{{Ill}} seem to be an exception, but not for linking to another Wikipedia's version of the current article. SeeWikipedia:Manual of Style#First sentence for further information.
@Auntof6 I am thinking I will present a spreadsheet of about 500 pieces of text, column 1 original, column 2 new. And a list of about 150 pages to do the operation on
That page tracks the errors that cewbot makes, and I think by far the most common error is one where links of this form {{ill|Maryla Freiwald|sv}} are treated as having no target, instead of targetingsv:Maryla Freiwald, and so it never fixes them. About 150 errors across pages are just this one
We could either do an aggressive replacement that does everything Cewbot would do, or just fixes the formatting, so within a few weeks Cewbot will find the error and correct it assuming that everything is fine (there is an existing page in both languages and no wikidata conflict between the pages).Immanuelle ❤️💚💙(please tag me)22:40, 23 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Can you give me some examples? Maybe 4 or 5 examples of column 1 and column 2? Or maybe however many examples it would take to give an example of each kind of change you have in mind. --Auntof6 (talk)22:54, 23 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Almost all of these are pretty regular.@Cewbot corrects interlanguage links by default. I will manually go through all of these to figure out edge cases and sent it to you
Yeah so I would like you to do the replacements based on the sections below. Cewbot seems to be under maintainance and the report page is not working at the moment. But if you do the fixes, and the creator fixes a glitch, then it should start fixing a lot of the links and give a much smaller report that we can use to do further fixes, and get that file to nothing.Immanuelle ❤️💚💙(please tag me)10:09, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to help, but 1) I'm still not sure I understand what the replacements should be and 2) based on what little I understand, this isn't something I can do. Some of your examples talk about things that aren't linked in Wikidata or pages that don't exist in the other Wikipedia, and those aren't things I can check. All I know how to do is use AWB, and I don't think AWB can do this. --Auntof6 (talk)10:13, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Auntof6 let’s wait a bit. A lot of the errors appear to be occurring because of a glitch in Cewbot that the creator is working on.
i do not know the actual capabilities of AWB but I get the impression I am overestimating it’s capabilities.
This would be relatively easy using a simple bot though. But I’m not even sure the procedure will be necessary after the Cewbot update. The single glitch might be responsible for 90% of the problems here.Immanuelle ❤️💚💙(please tag me)21:03, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about that I just fixed all of them myself. Undid some of the issues and it looks like it will hopefully get all fixed in a few days now that the bot is workingImmanuelle ❤️💚💙(please tag me)01:25, 2 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It might be that AWB isn't that powerful, or that it's beyond what I know how to do with it, or that there's a limit to how much manual work I'm willing to do here, or maybe that I still don't understand exactly what you're asking.
A couple of notes:
I sawthis change you made, where you removed the template from the lead. That was good: the first mention of the article topic (normally at the beginning of the lead, as it is in that article) is not supposed to be linked anyway (seeWikipedia:Manual of Style#First sentence). If you have any more like that, you could just change them to bolded text like you did in the diff I linked.
We probably also don't want red links, whether with the{{Ill}} template or not, in the related pages section. Those can just be removed.
Apparently there is server lag that is causing problems. So I will probably not be able to reply well. But thank you about this. And I hope that cewbot manages to fix these things in the future.Immanuelle ❤️💚💙(please tag me)02:52, 2 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You can use the ip welcoming templates for them as they are just ips with temporary accounts. Just make sure they are not vandals and users who want to help Wikipedia.Plutus💬🎃—Fortune favors the curious01:55, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sometimes they can make a really helpful first edit, and yes, I often do it for temporary users/IPs who have spotted and reverted very subtle vandalism themselves. Just make sure to check whether that first edit is helpful or not :) --Ferien(talk |join TBA!)16:00, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Ferien @Plutus I hope I have improved on this. Generally what I have been trying to do is to look at their first contribution and if they did something good do a welcome, and if they did something bad do a warn instead. But I definitely occasionally still welcomed block evaders or people who later did bad things.Immanuelle ❤️💚💙(please tag me)21:17, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Some people might know that I am blocked on enwiki and was blocked here for about 2 years. I was unblocked here onJune 14. The blocks were for relatively similar reasons. I hope that I am doing well and appreciated here, and I am interested if anyone has advice for me doing an unblock request on enwiki. I was blocked for about 2 years here before being unblocked, and similarly I am approaching the 2 year mark again on enwiki.Immanuelle ❤️💚💙(please tag me)02:34, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It would be best to ask for an unblock request to be written on enwiki explain how after a two year period of being blocked on simplewiki a fair number of admins and other formally ran an unblock request on the village pump explaining how you were an active editor and hade learned from your mistakes and that the overwhelming response was to unblock. Explain what you have been doing on simplewiki since and haven't had problems since. I'd be personally willing to comment of the enwiki request.fr33kman05:17, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The better place to post this would be on Simple talk. Otherwise, you're pretty much just talking to yourself and only people who watch your user page would see your post. --Auntof6 (talk)01:57, 13 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh. It was cleared but then I decided to go through a lot more of the ills to fix them and that means that the category likely will be cleared in a week after cewbot does its next cleanup. I have been focusing on trying to fix syntax errors and errors that were caused by a malfunction in cewbot that made it decapitalize a large number of ills. That involved undoing a lot of changes that removed entries from the category without fixing the links.
As for Gimu and the Rahat incursion. Both were giving errors because Gimu is just the Japanese word for duty and there is no separate Japanese article for Gimu. And the Rahat incursion on enwiki goes to that subheading. Since cewbot also tracks broken anchors, I figured a broken anchor tracked as such would be better than an ill that shows up as nothing, but I decided to justadd the section since it is short.
I did most of what I intended to do, but if anyone else wants to do work on fixing these links, or if I decide I want to do more work on them, it is best to let it wait until the week passes. We can check after the week is over whether it was successful in fixing all of these links.Immanuelle ❤️💚💙(please tag me)04:13, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Nah that is not necessary. There were just some obvious errors. If I see it still causes problems next time then that would be good. But for now it seems it just needs to be run again for some new links or obvious code errors that I fixed.Immanuelle ❤️💚💙(please tag me)03:57, 19 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That is because you are still on "General note (1)" again, you need to be on "Single issue warnings" for uw-rfd! With the two ways to enable Twinkle, I guess you can add it to your common.js or add it as a gadget in your preferences, but the same gadget file is still being used so there shouldn't be any issues based on that. --Ferien(talk |join TBA!)16:10, 16 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
However my original draft did include links they simply glitched and I had to copy them again. The article is also a work in progress, hence it not currently fitting Manual of Style. Thanks for all the help and feedback. Katseye is a quite popular group now though so I am sure others will also help the article.This0k (talk)18:02, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It is a temporary category for the categorization of the articles that I added links to. To be used for removing the templates either manually or with AWB. I am sorry if this was not permissible.Immanuelle ❤️💚💙(please tag me)21:57, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This is quite easy to fix, as I can run through them with AWB now and remove both the category and template, but it would have been almost just as quick to remove them en masse compared to adding the category. --Ferien(talk |join TBA!)21:59, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure why you're going through this extra step and creating categories like this. Just remove the template if you think you've added enough wikilinks to the article to make it no longer in need of the deadend template.CountryANDWestern (talk)22:00, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Glancing at a couple of articles likethis one: please consider adding more wikilinks. Two links in an article of that size with the many terms it has throughout doesn't really seem to address the deadend concerns.CountryANDWestern (talk)22:03, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please don't mass tag articles for no sources. A lot of the article are so short that having no sources doesn't make a great impact, and it just makes articles look worse. --Ferien(talk |join TBA!)08:51, 16 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Adding sources is good. Just be aware than just adding sources to existing text is not considered expanding. When determining the size of an article, only the actual text counts: not references, tables, infoboxes, nav boxes, categories, etc. --Auntof6 (talk)16:05, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, you can grab refs from enwiki. There is no need to tag them just because they were in AncientPages. Again, please stop tagging short articles en masse for sourcing issues. --Ferien(talk |join TBA!)19:03, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
We do need to work on them, but it is already clear where to find them, you can just go in the category for most villages on this site and you will find one (the villages also aren't a pressing issue because the information in them is all clearly true, and the main issue is the fact that they're stubs, not that they're unsourced, but that's beyond the point). Tagging them isn't going to speed up the process. It is just going to have our cleanup categories looking likethis where it's now difficult to navigate and find the articles that genuinely need a bit more work rather than the villages that can be fixed in about 30 seconds. --Ferien(talk |join TBA!)22:51, 21 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please pleaseplease stop. I'm not sure why you're interpreting Ferien's comments to tell you to stop tagging those articles to mean "change the tags on the articles instead." You do not need to keep tagging them; you do not need to keep changing the tags you already added to the expand tags.CountryANDWestern (talk)01:40, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think if you just leave them be that will be fine. Once you've added the tags there's no need to revert them entirely. The Expand English template is slightly better but it is fine, don't worry, just leave them. I will add it to my list of things to do and we can both work on them regardless of whether it is marked as unsourced, expansion from en or not tagged at all entirely. I have some assignments I want to get done today but maybe I'll run through some later. Improving these French village articles have been a slow task of mine pretty much since I've started editing here though, there's a lot of them to do – hence why they are left for so long. --Ferien(talk |join TBA!)10:19, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Good that someone is actually trying to do something about this mass of stubs. Although they were created well before 2020 so I am guessing this person was doing this for over a decade?Immanuelle ❤️💚💙(please tag me)18:06, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you look at some of them, especially the American ones, they were created using AWB by a former admin which we definitely wouldn't allow today. Quite a few people have been doing it. --Ferien(talk |join TBA!)19:19, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Really cool feature. It's got problems but I've been able to make a few articles here this way, likePokédex. Are you knowledgable on Pokemon? @2005-Fan not really knowledgeable on Pokemon. Been a fan of it for 25 years, but it is not my major area of interest. I just really want to try to save articles that are struggling. @2005-Fan I appreciate that but make sure not to leave random French text in it like happened in the nihongo template just then. Make sure that the template is good and simple enough and it might stay here.Immanuelle ❤️💚💙(please tag me)02:46, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm really irked that I can't figure out how to do source editing on Special:ContentTranslation, otherwise I wouldn't have to manually fix several things.2005-Fan (talk)02:47, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@2005-Fan yeah I do not think it is supposed to be able to do source editing. The intention of it is to be a start that connects with wikidata to get links and templates. But not really to make a full article.Immanuelle ❤️💚💙(please tag me)02:51, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I would love if it had that toggle ability because I feel embarrassed trying to quickly fix up article when I notice errors upon publishing.2005-Fan (talk)02:52, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Kind of hard for me to do as a native English speaker. I admittedly just write until it's to a term that a general audience would understand, but even that seems subjective.
Simplification, I fear, is code for "cut away information" rather than put it into simpler words. I tried to split up the article into sections, if that makes at least a bit of difference.2005-Fan (talk)02:57, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I wonder if the Togepi and evolutions article falls kind of on a "compromise" ground for all parties, since people seem to be obsessed with remaking the Togetic article, but the French wikipedia article about the Togepi evolutionary family seemed like a perfect way to fill in the gap.2005-Fan (talk)02:59, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I worked several minutes on the translation process, so I would hate if it went to waste. Not to mention all the work I've put into restoring Wikipedia content in the past elsewhere.
I'm glad the Simple English Wikipedia is willing to collaborate with me on this stuff, since I worried if I'd get targeted by "notability" concerns.2005-Fan (talk)03:02, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
When you said "It isn't a massive interest of mine. But I would be happy to see you work on them." were you talking about the transwiki'd articles on Wikibooks, including the multitude of Pokemon content?2005-Fan (talk)13:51, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Would it also apply to the Togetic article that I ported over to Vikidia? I believe there's less strictness over notability guidelines there.2005-Fan (talk)00:31, 19 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@2005-Fan I think it would be helpful to make something on your userpage that pointed out the pages you were inerested in doing this for. That would make it easier for me to see if there was an article I would be interested in doing this for.Immanuelle ❤️💚💙(please tag me)01:42, 19 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Just saying I am feeling wikistressed at the moment. Stuff is going on in my personal life and I think I want to take a bit of a break or at least tone down my editing for a while.Immanuelle ❤️💚💙(please tag me)04:18, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, if you're feeling stressed because of the talk page/archival then would you like me to manually move (and archive) the page and delete the redirect to make a new talk page and have the bot (if you could do that part) automatically archive the future revisions of the page? If it's easier and it's causing problems otherwise then it might be the best way to do this if you think so too. 11:03, 22 October 2025 (UTC) {Catcus DeMeowwy (talk) |User_talk:Catcus DeMeowwy11:03, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Catcus DeMeowwy mostly work and finances offwiki. I’m slightly concerned with being homeless due to job difficulties. And external stress makes me a worse editor I think. I’ll give updates but things are better today than they were yesterday.Immanuelle ❤️💚💙(please tag me)20:02, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Let me know how it goes at it all happens, but like the other commenter said, if you feel as though your stress is making your edits (or stress) worse then take a break! Give as many updates as you want or drop me an email anytime. I'm glad it is looking better today {Catcus DeMeowwy (talk) |User_talk:Catcus DeMeowwy20:04, 22 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Recently from a day ago there are more than two IPs who are adding new information to pageKarauli princely state removing revision by NDG which looks to be totally vandalize, so I think it should be protected from such IP after restoring NDG version if needed, thanks.Johndmafia (talk)02:54, 24 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have handed over, the topic about (possible) re-write ofAstronomical survey: Handed over to one esteemed user, to see if she 'approves' of a stub, that is 'on her table'.--Have a nice day (and congratulations about having pointed out, 'some' 'relevant AI'.--Have a nice day!~2025-28382-09 (talk)13:22, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
