TheUnited States Department of the Navy (DON) is a U.S. military department under theUnited States Department of Defense.
It was created in order to give civilian leadership andadministration to theUnited States Navy and theUnited States Marine Corps. TheSecretary of the Navy is in charge of the Department of the Navy, and the Department of the Navy is under theauthority of theDepartment of Defense.[1]
