TheFootball Association (theFA) is theorganisation that controls Englishfootball.

Formed in 1863, it is the oldest football association in the world.[1] It is responsible for overseeing the amateur and professional game in England and the islands ofJersey,Guernsey and theIsle of Man.

The FA is a member ofFIFA andUEFA and has a seat in theInternational Football Association Board (IFAB), which is responsible for theLaws of the Game. The FA is also a member of theBritish Olympic Association, which means that they also have control over theGreat Britain Olympic football team.

The FA has only a little bit of control of thePremier League and theEnglish Football League, although allprofessional teams in England are members of the FA.
