Rechargeable battery

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected fromSecondary cell)

Arechargeable battery, also called astorage battery or asecondary cell, is abattery that can be recharged over and over again withelectricity.[1] A battery that is not rechargeable is called aprimary cell or disposable battery.[2] It is thrown away after it no longer works. The voltage of rechargeable batteries can be restored by passing an electric current through the battery. Car batteries, for example, work this way..[3][4]

Rechargeable batteries are not always chosen. Each battery costs more to make, and has more dangerouschemicals than disposable batteries.

Rechargeable batteries can be used for many smaller electronics such asMP3 players andflashlights. Almost allmobile phones andlaptop computers use them. They are also used forcar batteries.
