TheSan Joaquin Valley (/ˌsænhwɑːˈkiːn/SAN whah-KEEN) is the area of theCentral Valley of theU.S. state ofCalifornia that lies south of theSacramento–San Joaquin River Delta and is drained by theSan Joaquin River.
It is made up of sevenNorthern California counties—all ofKings County; a majority ofFresno,Merced,Stanislaus counties; segments ofMadera andTulare counties—and a majority ofKern County, inSouthern California.[1]
