Robyn Rihanna FentyNH[2] (born 20 February 1988), known simply asRihanna, is aBarbadian singer, actress, fashion designer, businesswoman and model. She started her music career in 2003. She has released eight studio albums and threeDVDs.

Her third album,Good Girl Gone Bad (2007) made her popular in the music business. The chart-topping single "Umbrella" earned Rihanna her firstGrammy Award. Her next albumsRated R (2009),Loud (2010),Talk That Talk (2011), andUnapologetic (2012) became very popular. From these albums, her best known singles were "Rude Boy", "Only Girl (In the World)", "What's My Name?", "S&M", "We Found Love", "Where Have You Been" and "Diamonds".

She was also ranked the fourth most powerful celebrity in 2012. She earned $53 million between May 2011 and May 2012, according toForbes.[3] In 2013, Fenty was given the first ever Icon Award at theAmerican Music Awards.[4] Fenty's seventh albumUnapologetic (2012) became her first number-one album in the United States. It won Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2014 Grammy Awards.[5] In 2015, a movie calledHome was released. Fenty voiced one of the main characters in it[6] and was also the executive producer of the movie's soundtrack.

Her eighthstudio album,Anti, was released to the streaming service Tidal. It entered theBillboard 200 at number 27. It was a limited-time free download sponsored bySamsung. It was certifiedPlatinum in the U.S. only two days after it was released. The next week, after the album was released to other marketplaces, it reached number one on theBillboard 200.Anti features theBillboard Hot 100 number-one single "Work" (featuringDrake) and the top-ten hit "Needed Me". Rihanna also recorded a song, "This Is What You Came For", withScottishDJCalvin Harris. It reached the top ten on charts around the world. The next year, she was featured onDJ Khaled's song "Wild Thoughts", which reached number two on theBillboard Hot 100.[7]

She created a line of beauty products called Fenty Beauty. On June 4, 2019, Natalie Robehmed ofForbes wrote that Fenty had become the world's richest female musician, with a net worth of $600 million.[8] Her net worth was updated in August 2021 to $1.7 billion.

On September 25, 2022, it was announced that Rihanna would be the headliner of the Super Bowl LVII halftime show on February 12, 2023.[9]

Born inSaint Michael, Barbados to Monica (ofGuyanese ancestry) and Ronald Fenty (ofIrish and West Indian ancestry).[10][11] She has five siblings. They grew up inBridgetown. As a teenager, she was in Barbados' pre-military program where she met a singer named Shontelle who was also her officer. This inspired the young Rihanna to get more into making music.[12]

On May 19, 2021, American rapperASAP Rocky fromNew York confirmed that he and Rihanna were in a relationship.[14][15][16][17] They have three children together.[18]

Domestic violence case

On 8 February 2009, Rihanna wasassaulted by her then-boyfriendChris Brown after Brown was sending messages to a girl.[19] Rihanna got angry and Brown beat her up. TheLos Angeles Police Department (LAPD) sent a photograph toTMZ which showed Rihanna with cuts and bruises on her face.[20] On 22 June 2009, Brown pled guilty to the felony assault. He was ordered to five years probation and to stay fifty yards way from Rihanna, unless it is at a public event, which it was ten yards.[21] In February 2011, the restraining order was changed to allow both singers to appear at awards shows together in the future.[22][23][24]

In 2012, the American magazineTime named Rihanna one of the most influential people in the world.[26]

She is the most-followed female person onTwitter. She was honored as aNational Hero of Barbados on the day thecountry became arepublic and removed theQueen in November 2021.[2]
