Richard Girnt Butler (February 23, 1918– September 8, 2004) was awhite supremacist andAmericanChristian religious leader. Butler founded theneo-NaziAryan Nations and would become one of the most well known and influential leaders of the Americanfar-right.
Butler was a former member of theSilver Shirts, an Americanfascist organization modeled afterNaziBrownshirts and active until its suppression following the Japanese attack onPearl Harbor.[1]
Butler was convicted ofconspiracy by theUnited States Department of Justice, but was not convicted because the grandjury failed to prosecute him.[2]
