Renfrewshire (/ˈrɛnfruːʃɪər,-ʃər/) (Scottish Gaelic:Siorrachd Rinn Friù) is one of the 32council areas of Scotland.
It is located in the westcentral Lowlands. It is one of three council areas contained within the boundaries of thehistoric county ofRenfrewshire, the others beingEast Renfrewshire to the east andInverclyde to the west.
It also shares borders withGlasgow,North Ayrshire andWest Dunbartonshire, and lies on the southern bank of theRiver Clyde.
