Raymond Sackler (February 16, 1920 – July 17, 2017) was an Americanphysician,entrepreneur, andphilanthropist. Sackler and his brothersArthur andMortimer worked together and independently. They had careers aspsychiatric researchers and practitioners, business leaders, andphilanthropists.
Sackler was known for being closely associated with the now global reach ofPurdue Pharma LLP, in the United States, Canada and Mundipharma Ltd.[1] in Europe, Asia and Africa. Sackler and his wife Beverly established theRaymond and Beverly Sackler Medical Research Centre at the University of Cambridge, School of Clinical Medicine (UK).[2]
Sackler was born inBrooklyn,New York. He studied atNew York University. He married Beverly Sackler in 1944. Sackler died on July 17, 2017 ofpneumonia at his home inStamford,Connecticut at the age of 97.[3]
