Aquarry is a type ofopen pit mine that is used to getrocks andminerals from the ground. Quarries are often used to cutstone from the ground in large pieces or blocks. These are calleddimension stones. They are used for building things. Some quarries fill withwater to make smalllakes when they are no longer being used for mining.

The largest granite quarry in the world is run byRock of Ages Corporation inVermont,USA..[1]
