Promethium

Promethium is a synthetic radioactivechemicalelement that has the symbol Pm on theperiodic table. It has the atomic number 61 which means it has 61protons in itsatom. It is the only synthetic element in theLanthanide group as all itsisotopes areradioactive. Together withTechnetium, these are the only two radioactive elements belowlead. Most Promethium is artificially produced. The longest-living isotope of promethium is145Pm, with ahalf-life of 17.7 years.

Uses

Promethium is used in the illuminated digits of some clocks, itsBeta Radiation may be used to measure thickness.
