Pindar (/ˈpɪndər/;Greek:ΠίνδαροςPindaros,[píndaros];Latin:Pindarus; c. 518 – 438 BC) was anancient Greek poet ofThebes. He was born inBoeotia, around 518 BC. He died in Argos, at age 80 in 438 BC. He is known for hisodes in praise ofathletes and their accomplishments but he wrote poems in many other forms as well.
