Apickled cucumber, most often simply called apickle in theUnited States andCanada, is acucumber that has been processed in a brine orvinegar solution and left toferment for a period of time. Pickling is also used for many other things, such asonions,cabbage, andherring. One common type of pickle is the dill pickle. It is commonly used as a topping onmeat products such ashamburgers, but can also be eaten on its own. It is often put onhamburgers or inhotdogs.
