TheOuter Banks are a line ofbarrier islands off the eastcoast ofNorth Carolina.[1]
The islands form a 200 mile (320 km) long stretch. The islands are narrow. The islands are supported bytourism. TheAtlantic Ocean is to the east and the Pamlico Sound is to the west. In the 1580s, theLost Colony was built on the Outer Banks. TheWright Brothers's first flight happened on the Outer Banks in 1903.[2]
