Oliver Laurence North (born October 7, 1943) orOllie North is a retiredUnited States Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel, political commentator, television host, military historian, andNew York Times best-selling author. He is currently the host of War Stories with Oliver North onFox News Channel.
In 2018, North became the President of theNational Rifle Association of America (NRA).
North was at the center of national attention during theIran–Contra affair, a political scandal in the late 1980s during the presidency ofRonald Reagan. Some people say North took the blame and punishment rather than Reagan.
North was born on October 7, 1943 inSan Antonio,Texas.[1] North grew up inPhilmont, New York. He studied atState University of New York at Brockport. He has been married to Betsy Stuart since 1987.
