Nikolay Alexeyevich Nekrasov (Russian:Никола́й Алексе́евич Некра́сов,IPA: [nʲɪkɐˈlaj ɐlʲɪkˈsʲejɪvʲɪtɕ nʲɪˈkrasəf] (audio speaker iconlisten), 10 December [O.S. 28 November] 1821 – 8 January 1878[O.S. 27 December 1877]) was a Russianpoet,writer,critic, andpublisher. He made verycompassionatepoems about theRussian peasantry. These poems made him popular aroundliberal and radicalintellectuals of the 1800s. He was one of the first Russians to useternary meters anddramatic monologue.[2] He edited manyliterary journals, such asSovremennik.[3]
