Neubrandenburg (Low German:Niegenbramborg or shortened:Bramborg) (NewBrandenburg,IPA: [nɔʏˈbʁandənbʊʁk]) is a city inMecklenburg-Western Pomerania,Germany. It is in the southeastern part of the state, at the shore of a lake called theTollensesee.

The city was founded in the year 1248.

Till September 4, 2011 Neubrandenburg was aurban district.

Since March 2015Silvio Witt is the mayor of Neubrandenburg. He is the succesor ofPaul Krüger (CDU).

Neubrandenburg was founded by the knight Herbord von Raven in the year 1248.
