(Redirected fromNeoarchean)

TheNeoarchaean (Neoarchean) is the lastgeologicalera in theArchaean eon. It began 2.8billion years ago and ended 2.5 billion years ago.[1] Before the Neoarchaean era was theMesoarchaean era and before thePalaeoproterozoic.

Oxygenicphotosynthesis firstevolved in this era. This led to anoxygen catastrophe in thePalaeoproterozoic era. It was caused by apoisonous buildup of oxygen in theatmosphere. This was created by oxygen-producingphotoautotrophs that evolved in the Neoarchaean. ThesupercontinentKenorland formed during this period, about 2.7 billion years ago.
