Amicrometre (theAmerican spelling ismicrometer; symbol isµm) is aunit of length in theSI measurement system. It can also be called amicron. It is one millionth of ametre. A micrometre is often used as a measurement for small things like bacteria. Like theAngstrom it is used for radiation in or near thevisible spectrum.
