Mark Andrew Spitz (born February 10, 1950) is anAmericanretiredswimmer ofJewish descent. He won sevengold medals at the1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. That achievement was only passed byMichael Phelps who won eight golds at the2008 Olympics.[1][2][3]
