Margarine

Margarine is anartificial butter. It can be made fromvegetable oil, oranimal fat. It may also containskimmed milk,salt and emulsifiers. Margarine is used in manybaked products. It contains lessfat than butter, so is often chosen instead of it. There are also "low fat" margarines, which contain even less fat. However, many types of margarine are made withhydrogenated oils. Products with hydrogenated oil havetrans fats, which are unhealthy and can causeheart disease. Other fats, likeolive oil, andbutter, are a better choice for cooking.
