TheLeopard 2 is a Germanbattle tank, ortank ormain battle tank. It is a kind of third generation battle tank. It was developed byKraussmaffei in the 1970s. The tank came into the military ofWest Germany in 1979 and replaced theLeopard 1 as the main battle tank of the west German army.

The tanks produced up to the leopard 2A4 model, have a vertically facedturret armor.
The Leopard 2A5 can be recognized for its angular spaced armour on the turret cheeks and 44-calibre 120 mm main gun.
Variousversions of the Leopard 2 continues to be operated by armed forces of Germany, as well as 13 other European countries, and several other non-European countries, includingCanada,Chile,Indonesia, andSingapore. Some of the countries that have Leopard 2, have alicense to build their own Leopard 2 tanks. The Turkish army used Leopard 2 in Syria in 2023-24. The Ukrainian army used them in the Russian invasion.
