His parents wereJews from theRussian Empire. He was the father of actor andproducerMichael Douglas.

He came in at #17 on AFI'slist of the greatest male American screen legends of all time and was one of two living actors on the list (Sidney Poitier is the other).

In 1995, he was given an HonoraryAcademy Award. In 1956, he won aGolden Globe Award.

Kirk Douglas died on February 5, 2020 inBeverly Hills, California at the age of 103.[1]
