Kira Aleksandrovna Yarmysh (born October 11, 1989) is aRussianwriter. In 2020, hernovel "Incredible Incidents in Women's Cell No. 3"[a] waspublished.[1] As of 2022, her book has been published in at least one otherlanguage.[2]
She was thepresssecretary andassistant of Russianopposition leaderAlexei Navalny.
In 2022, media said that she hasescaped from Russia; She served 7 months of the 18 months of house arrest - punishment that the Russian authorities gave her.[3]
Yarmysh was born inRostov-on-Don on October 11, 1989.[4] In 2007, she started studying at the Faculty of International Journalism (Факультет международной журналистики) atMoscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) without exams, having won theUniversity Challenge Olympiad (seeolympiad). Aftergraduation, she worked in thepressservices of thePushkin Museum inMoscow. She also worked forUtairairline. In 2013, she took part in theelection campaign of Alexei Navalny. He was trying to beelected asmayor of Moscow.[5]
