Jose Claveria de Venecia Jr. (December 26, 1936– February 10, 2026) was a Filipino politician. He was theSpeaker of theHouse of Representatives of the Philippines serving from 1992 to 1998 and from 2001 to 2008.[1] He ran forpresident in the1998 election but lost toVice PresidentJoseph Estrada, finishing second among 11 candidates.
De Venecia died on February 10, 2026 at the age of 89.[2]
