John Henry Hoeven III (born March 13, 1957) is a politician from theU.S. state ofNorth Dakota. On January 3, 2011, he became aUnited States Senator for that state.[1][2] A member of theNorth Dakota Republican Party, he previously served as the31stGovernor of North Dakota from December 2000 to December 2010.
Hoeven was elected to theU.S. Senate in the November 2, 2010 general election. He replaced junior SenatorByron L. Dorgan, who chose not to seek re-election.
