Joaquín Castro (born September 16, 1974)[1] is anAmericanpolitician. He has served in theUnited States House of Representatives forTexas's 20th congressional district since 2013.
Julián Castro was the 16thUnited States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in theCabinet ofPresident Barack Obama and is acandidate for President in the2020 election.[2]
In July 2022, Castro was diagnosed withsmall intestine cancer which had spread to hisliver. He hadsurgery in February 2023 to remove the tumors.[3]
