JSTOR (/ˈdʒeɪstɔːr/; short forJournal Storage)^[3] is adigital library. It was founded in 1995 inNew York City,United States. It was originally containingdigitized back issues ofacademic journals. It now encompasses books and other primary sources as well as current issues of journals. It providesfull-text searches of almost 2,000 journals.

As of 2013^[update], more than 8,000 institutions in more than 160 countries had access to JSTOR.^[4] Most access is bysubscription but some of the site ispublic domain, andopen access content is available free of charge.^[5]^[6]

JSTOR's revenue was $86 million in 2015.^[7]
