Interstate 29 (I-29) is anInterstate Highway in theUnited States. It goes fromKansas City, Missouri, north toPembina, North Dakota, at theCanada border. The route is755.51 miles (1,215.88 km) long.[1]
I-29 starts in Kansas City, Missouri. It is a very hilly route, and it is surrounded by forests. It travels north through the city ofSt. Joseph, and then entersIowa. In Iowa, I-29 runs near theMissouri River and runs through many cities that were settled on the river likeCouncil Bluffs, which is a suburb ofOmaha, andSioux City. North of Sioux City, the highway curves to the west and entersSouth Dakota. Here the route becomes very flat and the area around the highway turns toplains. I-29 passes bySioux Falls,Brookings, andWatertown. Then, it enters the Glacier Lakes area of South Dakota, which is very hilly. North of here, the route entersNorth Dakota and becomes flat again. In North Dakota, I-29 runs just to the west of theRed River of the North. It runs throughFargo andGrand Forks before it reaches theCanadian border. I-29 ends here, but the road continues north into Canada, and is known asManitoba Highway 29.
