TheHudson Bay is a bay that goes into East-centralCanada. It is the fourth largestsea in theworld with an area of 316,000square miles (819,000square kilometres). The northern and western shores belong toNunavut, the southern shore is split betweenManitoba andOntario, and the eastern shore belongs toQuebec. It is connected with theAtlantic Ocean through theHudson Strait, which is in the northeast of the bay, and with the Arctic Ocean through theFoxe Channel in the north part of the bay.

It was named for theEnglish explorerHenry Hudson, who, in 1610 on the shipDiscovery, found the bay and claimed it for England.
