A trait is heritable whenidentical twins are more like each other thanfraternal twins.

Heredity is the passing oftraits (characteristics) from parents to offspring. Inbiology, the study of heredity is calledgenetics. With most living things, heredity is analysed bybreeding (making crosses), often in alaboratory. But withhumans, heredity is studied in other ways.Familypedigrees, identical twins andDNAgenome analysis all provide clues.[1]

A trait which may be inherited isheritable; it isinborn orinnate.
