Hastings and Rye is aconstituency of the UK Parliament[n 1] inEast Sussex. It was created in 1983. Since then it has been held by theConservativeParty, apart from 1997 to 2010 when it held by Michael Foster for theLabourParty. Between 2010 and 2019 it was represented byAmber Rudd.[2][n 2] Rudd was in theTheresa May'sCabinet. Between 2016 and 2018 she wasHome Secretary, and between 2018 and 2019 she wasSecretary of State for Work and Pensions. Since 2019 it has been represented by Sally-Ann Hart.
