Gustav Metzger (10 April 1926 – 1 March 2017) was aBritish artist andpolitical activist. He was best known for developing the concept ofauto-destructive art (ADA) and theArt Strike. He was also one of the starters of the Destruction in Art Symposium in September 1966.
Metzger was born inNuremberg,Germany. He was the son ofPolishJews. He moved to theUnited Kingdom in 1939 as arefugee.
Metzger died on 1 March 2017 inLondon, at the age of 90.[1]
