Gloucestershire (pronounced[ˈglɒstəʃə];GLOSS-ter-sher) is acounty in South West England. The county includes part of theCotswold Hills, part of the flat fertile valley of theRiver Severn, and the entireForest of Dean.

The county town isGloucester, and other principal towns includeCheltenham,Stroud,Cirencester, andTewkesbury.

Gloucestershire borders thecounty ofGwent inWales, and in England the counties ofHerefordshire,Worcestershire,Warwickshire,Oxfordshire,Wiltshire,Somerset andBristol.
