Fishing industry

A commercial fishing ship specialized in catchingtuna withnets.

All activities that are concerned with growing, catching, processing or transportingfish either as ahobby or as aneconomic activity is calledFishing industry.

According to theFAO definition it includesrecreational,subsistence andcommercial fishing, and the harvesting,processing, andmarketing sectors.[1] The commercial activity is aimed at the delivery offish and otherseafood products for human consumption or as input factors in other industrial processes. Directly or indirectly, the livelihood of over 500 million people indeveloping countries depends on fisheries andaquaculture.[2]
