Ferozepur (Urdu:ضلع فیروزپور) founded byFiruz Shah Tughluq is adistrict in theIndianstate ofPunjab. The district is the oldestBritish district of Punjab. It was created in 1833 as districtheadquarters and was part of the earstwhileLahore Division (now inPakistan).
Ferozepur has easy access byroad andrail to other places such asLahore,Okara,Kasur,Multan. The area is a center of manyholyshrines andhistoric places. At thecity ofZira, aJainSwetambar Temple with very oldbrassicons andbeautiful wallmurals is located.
In addition tocotton andgraincultivation andagriculture-related services, Firozpur has some lightmanufacturing.Commercial progress is limited because it is very near the border between India and Pakistan.
