Feces (orfaeces), also calledfæces,poo,poop, orstool is thebody's solid waste left over from eatingfood.Human feces leave theintestinal tract and are removed from thebody through theanus. Feces are known for their unpleasantodor. The color, which can range from darkgreen throughbrown (the most common color) to brightyellow, depends on a lot of different things; for example, different foods can change the color of feces, so can some illnesses, likediarrhea. Theconsistency of feces changes too. Inhumans it is measured using theBristol stool scale, a system for separating feces into seven different types. It is used for medical diagnosis.

Although feces are generally thought to bewaste, they actually have many uses. Feces are used by some scientists to followanimalpopulations.[1] Feces fromanimals andhumans can be used to createfertilizers for plantcrops.[2] Some feces are also used as afuel forfires.

Animals can also poop. Ininformal language, there are many words for feces. These are oftenoffensive or evenvulgar.

In popular culture, there are a fewbooks about feces. Most of these books are forchildren. One is calledEveryone Poops. It was written by Tarō Gomi, who is fromJapan.[3]
